JESUS SPEAKING

‘As He went of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.” And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus. So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road. (Mark 10: 46 – 52.)

INSPIRED THOUGHTS

As Jesus journeyed along a road, a blind man began calling out to him; a lowly beggar who possessed great faith. Jesus responded by healing him. In an instant his eyes were restored; once again permitting him to see the world. With his vision renewed, how did he respond? He didn’t use his eyes to run away, to return home, or to chase after some selfish pursuit. Instead we read that he followed Jesus down the road. Supernatural events and miraculous healings most often serve a singular purpose; to allow those who have been healed to follow Jesus Christ more precisely.

Today, the Mayo Clinic, which is located in Rochester Minnesota, is one of the largest and most respected medical facilities in the entire world. Interestingly enough, this massive hospital began as a private practice in 1864; founded by a family doctor named William Worall Mayo. His two sons, who were also physicians, would eventually take control of the clinic; prompting it to increase in size and prestige over the course of several decades. “The Mayo Brothers,” as they are commonly referred to today, were experts in healthcare and conscientious observers of the process of disease, sickness, and death. One of the brothers, named William Mayo Jr. was once quoted as saying, “I have seen patients that were dead by all standards. We knew they could not live. But I have seen a minister come to the bedside and do something for him that I could not do, although I have done everything in my professional power. But something touched some immortal spark in him and in defiance of medical knowledge and materialistic common sense, that patient lived!”

Miracles are not a thing of the past; instead, they are a blessing in our present day. These supernatural events are happening all around us every day; in and through the lives of those who are faithful. God alone possesses the power over sickness and death; there is no disease He can’t heal, and no sickness He cannot eradicate. As we journey through this life, may the Spirit of the Living God dwell within us. May we be used as vessels for healing and transformation. May we remain steadfast; that our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ might never waiver.

“Lord Heavenly Father, only you are righteous and just and true. We know you are still healing those who are broken, and we admire Your wonderful works without ceasing. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, that we may remain faithful; use us to accomplish Your will in this place, as we bring healing to the sick and hope to those who are hopeless. We love You Father, we praise You, and we thank You, and we ask and pray all of these things, according to Your will, in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen!” God bless all of you.

JESUS SPEAKING

Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.  And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up.  But when Jesus saw her, he called her to him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.”  And he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God (Luke 13: 10-13.)

INSPIRED THOUGHTS

On a certain Sabbath day, Jesus was teaching in the synagogue; those who were listening would soon witness a wonderful act of divine charity.  In the midst of the crowd, there sat a deformed woman; who would unknowingly become the target of God’s mercy and grace.  For 18 years her twisted spine had condemned her to a life of humiliating hardship.  Jesus called her forward; and with one touch, she received her long awaited freedom; freedom from embarrassment and ridicule; freedom from shame; freedom from discomfort and pain.  Filled with gratitude, the once distorted woman honored and praised God for His compassionate work.  Miraculous healings such as this, serve two wonderful functions; they relieve suffering and inspire others to honor and glorify God.

Approximately ten years ago, I was a resident in a mental institution; I was unable to work and incapable of completing even menial tasks; like laundry and cooking. I was filled with fear and couldn’t sit still for any extended period of time without suffering a fit of extreme anxiety. I was also surrounded by other disturbed individuals; one poor woman was actually undergoing electro-shock-therapy. In a place where pajamas and slippers were the daily norm, I was unaware that God would eventually call me forward. Sometime after being released, He laid his hand on me; healing my unhealthy mind. But he didn’t just heal me; He also transformed me in to a completely different person. Today, I’m married and own a home; I hold down a job and have wonderful friendships; I’m involved in a number of ministries. I give as much as I can and I serve others whenever possible; I truly love and empathize with those who are suffering. I am a responsible individual that can be relied upon. A man who was once dead, has been made alive again. I’m an example of God’s miraculous power. I have become whole, not because of anything I have done, but because of what God has done for me.

Have you experienced a miracle?  Has God called you forward; has He done something amazing?  If so, then you are truly blessed; if not, He can and will heal you…if you let Him.  Have faith in the Lord and nothing will be impossible; trust in God and you will experience something miraculous. When you do, remember to give God the glory and honor He so greatly deserves; point at Him and proclaim, ‘My deliverer has arrived…and I have been set free; praise be to God.’

“Lord Heavenly Father You are worthy to receive glory and honor and praise.  We thank You for all of the amazing things you’ve done in and through us.  We desire to see even greater miracles; increase our faith; and do the impossible. We’re excited to see You accomplish Your mighty works. We love You Father, we praise You, and we thank You; and we ask and pray all of these things, according to Your will, in Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.” God bless all of you.
