JESUS SPEAKING
“And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.” (Luke 6: 31)
FAITHFUL THOUGHTS
Every evil act perpetrated against another human being is selfish in nature. Therefore, as Christians we must consider how we would like to be treated, and then apply that standard toward our interactions with others. Following this simple rule can lead us into a more righteous life.
Nowhere in the world today is a lack of empathy more evident than in the abortion industry. When a human being is conceived in the womb, a life begins. A human life, beautiful and wonderful. That individual will grow, they will be born, and they will be loved by others. And yet, for any number of selfish reasons, some women and men will choose to end that life. There are many excuses given of course; “It’s inconvenient,” or “I’m not ready,” or “My whole life will change.” But no matter the reason, abortion is a violation of Christ’s golden rule. The truth is revealed when we ask those considering abortion a few simple questions: “Would you have rather been aborted in the womb? Would you like for someone to end your life? Would you be happy if someone erased you from this world?” Most honest individuals will answer, “no!” And yet the practice continues without end. [Note: For those who have chosen abortion, there is forgiveness in Christ.]
Abortion is just one of a number of behaviors that violates Christ’s commandment to treat others as we ourselves would like to be treated. Those who are wise will implement this ‘golden rule,’ and in turn, grow closer to God. May God be glorified in the way we treat and love our fellows.
“Lord Heavenly Father, give us the strength and desire to apply this scripture in our lives. May we be honest and selfless in our dealings with others. May we be considerate and empathetic; trustworthy and faithful in all that we do. We love You Lord, we praise You, and we thank You, and we ask and pray all of these things, according to Your will, in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.” God bless all of you!
